Sustainability story

Artisan food production on Arran has a long heritage, and many of the companies involved in the manufacture of our quality food and drink are still family owned and operated.
Our award-winning products are handmade by people who care passionately about the wonderful environment in which they are lucky enough to live and work.
Sustainability is at the heart of our business and can be demonstrated by our attention to the R’s of Sustainability

The 5 R’s at Taste of Arran
1 . Recovery – We recover unused energy from our refrigeration process and transform it into 2000 litres of hot water every day which we reuse in our business.

2. Reduce – Saved over 10,000 food miles per year by establishing an Arran Milk cooperative plus many more with a consolidated distribution service with Arran Dairies and Taste of Arran

3. Reuse – By encouraging customers to use refillable glass milk bottles, we have eliminated over 50,000 single use plastic bottles

4. Report and measure our energy activity in realtime to minimise energy usage and emissions

5. We use Renewable energy to power our operations.
